In the first quarter of 2018, global FDI outflows fell to USD 136 billion from USD 242 billion in the previous quarter. This precipitous drop was largely due to a switch to negative outward FDI from the United States. US outward FDI fell to USD -145 billion, registering negative for the first time since the fourth quarter of 2005.
The OECD regularly publishes analysis on key developments and trends in global FDI flows using the most recent FDI statistics and data on mergers and acquisitions (M&A). We also disseminate the results of all investment-related work underway at the OECD.
This Declaration, first adopted in 1976, constitutes a policy commitment to improve the investment climate, encourage the positive contribution multinational enterprises can make to economic and social progress and minimise and resolve difficulties which may arise from their operations.
The OECD has long been at the forefront in efforts to develop international rules relating to capital movements, international investment and trade in services. Member governments have established "rules of the game" for themselves and for multinational enterprises based in their economies by means of legal instruments to which all members must adhere.
20-21 June 2018, Paris: The Global Forum is the first multi-stakeholder platform for integrating corporate responsibility questions into the global economic agenda. Governments, business, trade unions and civil society will come together to provide insights and exchange views on how to do well while doing no harm in an effort to contribute to sustainable development and enduring social progress.
The annual reports on the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises provide an account of the actions the adhering governments have taken over the previous 12 months to enhance the contribution of the guidelines to the improved functioning of the global economy.

27 April 2018 - In the fourth quarter of 2017, FDI flows reached their lowest level since 2013 (USD 280 billion). Inflows to the OECD decreased by 37%, largely driven by decreases in the United Kingdom and the United States from high levels in 2016. Outflows from the OECD decreased by a more modest 4%.
This paper examines the implications of digitalisation and digital technologies for international investment and investment policy, with a particular focus on digital policies relating to national security and digital policies directed at business operations.
