OECD Conference on Innovation in the Software Sector
Jointly organised by the OECD, the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade and the regional government of Extremadura
Centro de Cirugía de Mínima Invasión, Cáceres, Spain
29-30 November 2007
Background
This conference considered innovation in the software sector from an economic perspective, taking into account the factors that drive innovation, including key framework conditions. The agenda centred on the mandate for the on-going OECD project on innovation in the software sector, which focuses on:
-
The economic processes in the software sector (invention, production, distribution, use)
-
Research and development and the market environment in the software industry
-
User perspectives with respect to secure and accessible software.
The conclusions of this conference provided an important input into a major OECD project on software innovation and were also taken into account in an interim report to OECD Ministers in 2008.
