New Delhi,  4 December 2009

A joint OECD-India seminar on good e-government practices took place in New Delhi on 4 December 2009. The one-day seminar was held together with several bilateral meetings with Indian officials.

 

The seminar was opened by Deputy Secretary-General Richard A. Boucher and His Excellency, Mr. Chandrashektar, Secretary responsible for e-government in the Department of Information Technology in the federal Ministry of Communications & Information Technology.

 

The aim of the seminar was to exchange experiences focusing on three areas:

 

Session 1	The impact of the financial and economic crisis on e-government
Session 2	Strengthening leadership and organisation for successful e-government
Session 3	Serving citizens – becoming user-focused in e-government

 

Similarities were identified together with the diversity and magnitude of challenges facing the Indian federal government with regards to public service delivery. To facilitate an exchange of experiences invited e-government experts from Denmark, Hungary and Portugal together with Indian government officials gave introductory presentations to the discussions.
