STIINPL › Supporting methods
The Platform’s accompanying user guidance sets out archetypal paths for users to follow in carrying out particular tasks but does not go into detail on specific methods of analysis and interpretation. While suggestions on appropriate methods are made, the Platform acknowledges that different settings, not to mention the varying capabilities of different users, will play important parts in the choice of methods used. At the same time, much of the analysis and interpretation required for carrying out diagnostic and policy design work can be usefully supported through the systematic use of methods. The Platform therefore includes "methods notes" on some of the more common approaches for analysis and interpretation, including benchmarking, trend analysis, factor analysis, stakeholder analysis, scenario workshops, roadmapping, etc. These notes will provide an introduction to each method, setting out its appropriateness, benefits and limitations and pointing to more detailed guidance and case examples of application.
