Why this Workshop?

The need for both better quantitative and qualitative information relating to Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) is one of the cross-cutting issues of the Bologna Process.

All four main themes:

• Entrepreneurship
• Innovation
• ICT use and E-commerce
• SMEs for Development
  

require a more solid statistical underpinning.

This workshop will aim at deriving concrete statistical recommendations and proposals for endorsement by Ministers at the Istanbul Conference in June 2004.

This workshop will be jointly organised by the Statistics Directorate (STD), as well as the SME Unit and the Economic Analysis and Statistics Division (EAS) within the Directorate for Science, Technology and Industry (DSTI).
