Overview

The AMNE database presents detailed data on the activities of foreign affiliates in OECD countries (inward and outward activity of multinationals). The data indicate the increasing importance of foreign affiliates in the economies of host countries, particularly in production, employment, value added, research and development, labour compensation, exports. AMNE contains 17 variables broken down by country of origin (inward investment) or location (outward investment) and by industrial sector for a large number of OECD countries.

AMNE is based on data reported to OECD and Eurostat in the framework of annual surveys on the activtties of foreign-controlled enterprises and foreign affiliates abroad controlled by residents of the compiling country.

For more recent data, ISIC Rev. 4 version of AMNE

Data are provided for 25 OECD countries - for most countries from 2008 (see contents1 file). The AMNE tables can be accessed via OECD's data dissemination service OECD.stat:

Country notes provide country-specific information (inward2 and outward3).

For more ‘historical’ and longitudinal data: ISIC Rev. 3 versions of AMNE (AFA and FATS databases)

These two databases are based on the International Standard Industrial Classification of all economic activities, Revision 3 (ISIC Rev. 3), for most countries with data up to 2007.

The AFA (Activities of Foreign Affiliates) database presents detailed data on the performance of foreign affiliates in the manufacturing industry of OECD countries (see contents4 file). The AFA tables are provided for 28 OECD countries and can be accessed via OECD's data dissemination service OECD.stat:

The FATS (Foreign Affiliates Statistics) database gives detailed data on the activities of foreign affiliates in the services sector of OECD countries (see contents5 file). The FATS tables are provided for 25 OECD countries and can be accessed via OECD's data dissemination service OECD.stat:
