“Entrepreneurship in a Global Economy: Strategic Issues and Policies”

Why this Workshop?

The Workshop on Entrepreneurship, hosted by the Hungarian authorities (the Ministry of Economic Affairs) in Budapest, on 8-10 September 2003, will be jointly organised by the OECD SME Unit and the Local Economic and Employment Development (LEED) Programme Secretariat, with participation on a voluntary basis, and open to non-member economies participating in the Bologna Process.

It is envisaged that the Budapest Workshop, constituting an important preparatory event in advance of the Istanbul Ministerial Conference 2004, will review the in-progress draft report on Entrepreneurship, to test the related key issues selected for policy recommendations, and to further develop and refine draft policy recommendations for Ministers. It could also offer the opportunity to examine some early findings and recommendations arising from the issues related to innovative SMEs, in particular in relation to financing.

The workshop will be organised as a two-and-a-half-day event and will include individual sessions dedicated to each sub-theme. It is expected that the discussion taking place in each session will allow the identification and elaboration of potential policy recommendations to be included in the 2004 "Istanbul Ministerial Declaration".
