The OECD Forum on Governance of Infrastructure looks at the governance frameworks, standards and instruments needed to ensure that infrastructure delivers the socioeconomic outcomes that they are intended to achieve.
The 2020 edition of the Forum highlighted some of the most effective governance practices related to infrastructure planning, delivery and decision-making, including latest trends to maximise the impact of infrastructure on societies and economies in a post-COVID context.
The OECD presented the new Recommendation of the Council on the Governance of Infrastructure, which builds on and updates the OECD Framework for the governance of infrastructure after five years of implementation.
The Forum also looked at how governance can pave the way for sustainable infrastructure, support innovative private financing for infrastructure projects, and address regional imbalances in the development of infrastructure at subnational levels of government. Discussions highlighted the key role of infrastructure resilience and the use of technology to ensure sustainable quality infrastructure.
The Forum brought together decision-makers from the public and private sectors, centres of government, ministries of finance, procurement agencies, regulators, sub-national governments, financial institutions and institutional investors, to exchange experiences and discuss good practices.
