The radical transformation that Spanish rural areas have experienced in the past few decades suggest a new approach to rural policy. This report looks at such issues as rural tourism, renewable energies, rural clusters, development of peri-urban areas, and service delivery.
Spain has recently undertaken a major reform of its rural policies. This new framework creates a multi-sectoral and place-based “rural policy of state”, making Spain better equipped to address the challenges and opportunities of rural areas.

The EU Better Regulation project is a partnership between the OECD and the European Commission. It draws on the initiatives for Better Regulation promoted by both organisations over the last few years.
