San Luis Potosí, 10 December 2014
As part of the co-operation agreement on regulatory improvement launched on 26 September 2014, the OECD delivered the second progress report to the Mayor of the municipality of San Luis Potosí, Mayor Mario García Valdez, on 10 December 2014.
The OECD reported a progress of 33% in the implementation of the 284 actions of the reform agenda proposed for the municipality in June 2014, which is well above the expected pace as illustrated by national and international experiences. OECD officials hold meetings with heads and staff of the Municipal Planning Institute, Directorates for commerce, urban development and cadaster, civil protection, environment, water management, treasury, as well as the Procurement Office and the Office of the Comptroller, in order to revise the achievements so far, which include the issuing of low risk business licences in 48 hours; setting up the Business Support Centre, consolidating administrative procedures and the establishment of a one-stop shop, among others.
The report was also presented to the Citizen Council for Economic Development with the presence of Rodrigo Martí, Director of Economic Development of the Municipality of San Luis Potosí; Jorge Luis Perez, Member of the City Board, representatives from the private sector, the press, and civil society associations, which allows the engagement of a larger base of stakeholders.
