Cartoon © Mathias WeitbrechtThe first formal meeting of the NER provided the opportunity for a number of regulators to present on their current practices on measuring their performance and developing their key performance indicators. Presentations were made by Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), Netherland’s Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM), Italian Regulatory Authority for Electricity, Gas and Water, and the UK’s Office of Gas and Electricity Markets.


The OECD Secretariat also provided information on current diagnostic studies on the current status of regulators through the Product Market Survey on regulatory management, a water survey on regulators and a study on port regulation.


The Columbian telecommunications regulator also presented on an innovative approach in the use of behavioural economics and game theory for consumer protection.
