An ongoing project aims to develop options for measuring regulatory performance and to provide consolidated information on measuring practices in a number of OECD countries. A first step was the workshop in Madrid in September 2011 where experts from over 24 countries discussed how to develop a framework that countries can use to evaluate regulatory policy performance domestically. Expert papers were prepared to inform the development of the framework.
Currently government officials from 10 member countries are working on improving the draft framework discussed in Madrid to make it more useful and practical for domestic regulatory policy evaluation. They are members of the steering group on Measuring Regulatory Performance, which is part of the Regulatory Policy Committee.
