In seeking greater transparency in lobbying, Russia hosted an international seminar which highlighted how different countries are using regulation to ensure transparency and integrity in lobbying.
The meeting which aimed to facilitate dialogue and exchange amongst Russian stakeholders, was organised by the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, the OECD and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
Opening remarks were made by Mr. Oleg Fomichev, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, followed by presentations from the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation, Ministries of Justice, State Duma, representatives from the Privy Council Office of Canada and the United States Department of Justice, OECD secretariat, the UNODC and representatives from Russian business and trade unions.
The meeting highlighted the key requirements of a high-quality lobbying framework in accordance with the OECD Principles on Transparency and Integrity in Lobbying and covered:
