The OECD's regional approach in Central and Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia aims to address a number of common issues relevant for all countries in these regions still grappling at various degrees of intensity with the transition from centrally planned to market economies. |
For many of these countries the transition process is not yet complete and they continue to struggle to implement macroeconomic stabilisation and basic institutional and policy reforms. |
The OECD aims to support institution building and structural reform by promoting OECD best practices and facilitating information sharing. Policy dialogue focuses on topics such as anti-corruption, pension reform, financial sector reform, corporate governance and tax policy. The OECD also aims to encourage co-operation on specific issues within the sub-regions (in particular Central Asia and the Caucasus) for both economic and political reasons. |
