Schülerinnen und Schüler an deutschen Schulen haben in der PISA-Studie zum ersten Mal ein Ergebnis signifikant über dem OECD-Durchschnitt erreicht. Im Bereich Naturwissenschaften, dem Schwerpunkt von PISA 2006, erzielten sie durchschnittlich 516 Punkte.
