L'innovation dans la science, la technologie et l'industrie

Innovation for development

Short address for this page:

One of the important lessons of the past two decades has been the pivotal role of innovation in economic development. The build-up of innovation capacities has played a central role in the growth dynamics of successful developing countries.

In addition, the transfer and, when necessary, adaptation of technologies from developed countries can often contribute significantly to addressing urgent developmental challenges such as providing access to drinking water, eradicating neglected diseases or reducing hunger.

Ongoing work at the OECD analyses innovation for development around six major themes:

  • Contribution of innovation to economic growth and well-being
  • Impact of globalisation on development and innovation
  • Inclusive innovation
  • Education, skills and human capital
  • ICTs for development
  • Institutional frameworks for innovation policy
