OECD’s regional activities in South East Europe aim to support the process of regional co-operation. Part of this work is done in the context of the Regional Co-operation Council (RCC) that replaced the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe in 2008. The OECD co-chairs the Investment Compact for South East Europe which is a thematic regional programme designed to improve the investment climate and to encourage private sector development in South East Europe through the implementation of reforms to enhance domestic and foreign investment, and also contributes in support of the SEE Investment Committee.
Certain OECD activities in the region also aim to support the process of European integration. SIGMA, a joint initiative of the OECD and the European Union, principally financed by the EU, supports European Union candidate countries and potential candidates in their public governance reforms.
