El papel de América Latina en la construcción de un nuevo sistema financiero y económico internacional tiene que ser relevante. La experiencia acumulada en la gestión de crisis financieras y programas de recuperación en la región es importante, según el Secretario general de la OCDE.
Latin America has a major role to play in building a new international financial and economic system, since it has accumulated substantial experience in managing financial crises and recovery programs, according to the OECD Secretary-General.
Selon M. Gurría, l’éthique des affaires devra être au cœur de toute nouvelle feuille de route pour l’économie mondiale. Les marchés ne doivent pas seulement être plus stables mais aussi moralement acceptables. Il a affirmé qu'il était temps de réconcilier l’éthique et l’économie en s'appuyant sur des règles solides, transparentes et d’actualité.

Statement by Mr. Eckhard DEUTSCHER, Chair of the OECD Development Assistance Committee, to the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting - session 4: the Economics of Climate Change
In his remarks, Mr Gurría spoke of the work undertaken by the OECD and UNCTAD with developing countries aiming to define a shared understanding of healthy investment climates. The Secretary-General underlined that investment expands the economy’s productive capacity, drives job creation and economic growth, promotes innovation and trade, and ensures essential infrastructure.
In his presentation of the OECD/WTO report "Aid for Trade at a Glance", Mr. Gurría noted that effective and systematic monitoring of aid flows will strengthen mutual accountability and will provide incentives to improve the impact of donors' assistance.

The OECD Anti-Corruption Division won the “Highly Commended” Award in the Smart Regulation category of the 2007 Africa Investor Awards.
