    Proposed EU responsible trading strategy for minerals from conflict zones

    The European Commission has proposed an integrated EU approach to stop profits from trading minerals being used to fund armed conflicts. The package of measures aims to make it more difficult for armed groups in conflict-affected and high-risk areas to finance their activities through the mining of and trade in minerals.

    Le Chili a fait des efforts louables pour mettre en œuvre la Convention, mais pas une seule condamnation pour corruption transnationale n’a été prononcée. Le Chili n’a pas suffisamment enquêté sur plusieurs des six allégations de corruption transnationale qui ont émergé depuis 2001.

    L’Afrique du Sud doit prendre des mesures urgentes afin de lancer des enquêtes et engager des poursuites de manière proactive dans les affaires de corruption transnationale. Aucune poursuite n’a été engagée pour corruption transnationale depuis que l’Afrique du Sud a adhéré à la Convention anticorruption en 2007.
