To help governments in their pursuit of innovative practices the OECD has developed an integrated framework for analysing public sector innovation.
The co-production of government services with citizens is one way that can help governments provide better public services. However, they can involve some risks, which governments need to take into account.

The project provided recommendations to the city of Medellin and Antioquia to support the development of the local economy and includes a focus on how the innovative environment can be strengthened to support inclusion, entrepreneurship, SME, and local developmentto and how to better coordinate and integrate its policies with the national level.
Governments need to take a systemic approach in enabling innovation – focusing on the people involved, the information they are using, the ways in which they are working together, as well as the rules and processes which govern their work.
