On 2 October, OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría held a press conference to launch the OECD Environment Performance Review of Hungary with Hungarian President László Sólyom and Minister of Environment and Water Imre Szabó in Budapest. In his keynote address, the Secretary-General spoke about the extent to which Hungary has met its domestic objectives and honoured its international commitments in regards to the environment and what challenges it must address in the future.
Mr Gurría also attended the Conference on Financial Awareness where he spoke about the increasing importance of financial education. He then held a press conference with András Simor, Governor of Magyar Nemzeti Bank (Hungary's central bank).
On the occasion of this visit, the Secretary-General also had bilateral meetings with the following government officials:
Additionally, he also met with Lajos Oláh, Hungary's Senior State Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Water on the occasion of their common participation in the day's events.
