Two Governance Reform topics were the focus for discussions at this 2nd meeting of the Global Network on Privatisation and Corporate Governance of SOEs, namely SOE board nomination, functioning and evaluation; and establishing, organising and reforming SOE ownership entities.
Organised in Paris on 1 March 2010, task force discussions focused on transparency and accountability and the selection and quality of the boards of SOEs.

This study calls for increased use of Regulatory Impact Assessment in the area of corporate governance and gives a number of examples of how the technique has been applied to promote more efficient policy. Discussions at this meeting focused on 3 issues in response to the financial crisis that are high on the agenda in the Latin America region – the role of boards, including their role in risk management; corporate governance of financial institutions; and the need to ensure good governance of state-owned assets, including pension funds, sovereign wealth funds and state-owned enterprises.
