Professor Randolf Rodenstock is Managing Partner of Optische Werke G. Rodenstock GmbH & Co. KG, and former President of the Bavarian Industry Association (vbw).
Having graduated with Physics Diploma in 1976, Prof. Rodenstock joined Optische Werke G. Rodenstock, Munich. After obtaining an MBA at the Business School INSEAD in Fontainebleau, he joined the partnership of Optische Werke G. Rodenstock as personally liable partner (general partner), Executive management of the company together with father, Prof. Dr. Rolf Rodenstock.
In April 1990, Prof. Rodenstock became the sole executive management of the company, and Chairman of the Executive Board. In November 2003, he assumed the role of Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Rodenstock Group and in 2007 became a member of the Supervisory Board of the Rodenstock Group.
Prof. Rodenstock is a Member of the Advisory Board of Docter Optics GmbH; a Member of the Supervisory Board of E.ON Energie AG; a Member of the Supervisory Board of IKB Deutsche Industriebank AG; a Member of the Advisory Board of Dresdner Bank AG; and a Member of the Advisory Board of Gerling-Group.
In addition, he holds a number of honorary offices including: President of the Employers Association of Bavarian Electrical and Metalworking Industries, Munich (VBM); President of the Bavarian Business Association of Electrical and Metalworking Enterprises, Munich (BayME); Vice President of the Board in BDA, Confederation of German Employers’ Associations; Member of the Board in BDI, Federation of German Industries, Berlin; Vice President of Gesamtmetall, Employers Association for the Metal and Electrical Industry, Berlin; Vice President of the Institut der Deutschen Wirtschaft, Economic Research Institute, Cologne (IW); Vice President of the DAFG – Deutsch-Aravische Freundschaftsgesellschaft e.V., Berlin; Chairman of the Board of the Roman Herzog Institut, research institute founded by the former President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Munich (RHI); Chairman of the Foundation Board Stiftung Bildungspakt Bayern, Munich; Member of the Board of Spectaris, Industrial Association for Optical, Medical and Mechatronical Technologies, Berlin; as well as a Lecturing assignment at the Technical University, Munich.
