European Affairs Editor
Paul Taylor is European Affairs Editor of Reuters, based in Paris since 2008, and also writes a fortnightly Inside Europe column on “The Politics Behind the Economics” for the International Herald Tribune. Before that, he was Brussels Bureau Chief of Reuters from 2001-2008. In 36 years with the world’s leading news agency, he has been Diplomatic Editor and Bureau Chief in Paris, Berlin and Jerusalem.
A British citizen, he graduated in Modern History and Modern Languages from Balliol College, Oxford, in 1977 and joined Reuters in London. He has since alternated between Europe and the Middle East, covering the Iranian revolution, NATO and the East-West Euromissile crisis, the first Intifada, German unification, the Gulf War, the Maastricht EU treaty negotiations, elections and government changes in Germany and France, EU enlargement and most recently the euro zone debt crisis.
He has contributed chapters to books on the Middle East Peace Process, France in the New Europe, and Europe and Globalisation.
