Head of Policy
Eppu heads global policy at HelpAge International, an international network that leads the international development and humanitarian agenda in the field of ageing. Eppu has worked on national and regional social policy in the transitional economies of South East Europe and Central Asia for 15 years. With expertise on social protection, human rights and health, Eppu sits at the Social Protection Inter-agency Advisory Board mandated by G20 and on the World Bank Advisory Group on Gender. Eppu has a special interest in the impact of informal labour market mobility on transforming household structures, role of older women as transformative agents and poverty reduction in later life. She has written about seasonal inter-generational poverty in low income countries with cold climates, and old age income security for informal labour markets in Central Asia. Eppu holds BA (Hons) and MA in Social Anthropology from London University’s School of Oriental & African Studies (SOAS).
