Social Scientist and Author
Dr. Catherine Hakim is a pioneering Social Scientist and Author, currently a Professorial Research Fellow at Civitas, the London think tank, after many years at the London School of Economics. Her professional experience spans central government, consultancy, and academia. At the London School of Economics she developed preference theory, and more recently, a theory of erotic capital. Since leaving the LSE, she has worked at the Centre for Policy Studies in London, and the WZB research institute in Berlin. She is an internationally recognised expert on women's employment, labour market trends, social and family policy, and related issues. Her publications include over 100 papers published in social science journals and edited collections, several textbooks and numerous research monographs, including Key Issues in Women’s Work, and Erotic Capital: The Power of Attraction in the Boardroom and the Bedroom.
