This book presents a method to develop financing strategies for investment-heavy environmental infrastructure, such as urban water supply, wastewater collection and treatment, and municipal solid waste. The strategies, supported by the FEASIBLE computer model, were developed in several countries of Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia (EECCA), in EU accession countries and China.
As a non-binding guidance, this document has been developed to serve the environmental ministries and enforcement authorities in transition economies.

This study was conducted in the framework of co-operation between the OECD and China. The OECD secretariat has examined the financial sustainability and affordability of developing modern, centralised wastewater management infrastructure in medium sized cities and countries in China.
A programme of co-operation between the OECD and the Asian economies on the environmental protection provides an opportunity for policy dialogue on the critical environmental challenges that need to be addressed nationally, regionally and, globally.
