It is now widely acknowledged that a key measure in improving water governance consists in establishing water utilities as commercially-run entities, and to regulate their relations with municipalities through performance-based contracts.
At their meeting in Yerevan, EECCA Ministers of Environment, Finance, and Economy, Ministers and senior representatives from several OECD countries, as well as senior officials from International Financial Institutions, International Organisations, non-governmental organisations, and the private sector, met to discuss the situation in the EECCA water supply and sanitation sector and the measures needed to ensure sustainable financing
Effective communication and enhanced information sharing in both English and Russian is essential to underpin the actions and to facilitate the co-operation. Special efforts are needed to communicate effectively with the EECCA Regional Environmental Centers, the NGOs and private sector.
