2nd Workshop on Environmentally Sound Management (ESM) of Waste

 

This workshop, held on 28-29 September 2000 in Vienna, Austria, explored progress on Environmentally Sound Management of Wastes (ESM) to date and provided guidance for OECD’s future work in this area. The workshop:

  • reviewed experience on environmentally sound management in the OECD countries;
  • considered pilot guidelines/standards for environmentally sound management of personal computers;
  • considered guidelines/checklists for evaluating the environmental soundness of waste management in the importing facility by competent authorities; and
  • provided guidance to the WGWMP for future work in this area.
