5th Eilat-Eilot Renewable Energy Conference
22 - 23 February 2012, Tel Aviv, Israel
At the occasion of the Eilat-Eilot Renewable Energy conference, the OECD Local Economic and Employment Development (LEED) Programme will present the preliminary findings and recommendations of the case study of the Clean Tech in Israel, carried out at the request of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labour (MOITAL). The project has been undertaken as part of the OECD review series on Boosting Local Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Creation, which involves assessments in case study localities of the challenges and opportunities for stimulating entrepreneurship and innovation, the development of detailed policy recommendations, illustration of the recommendations with international learning model programmes and the development of a policy action plan with stakeholders through a local seminar.
The review of the Clean Tech in Israel examines entrepreneurship, SMEs and local development, including the contribution of entrepreneurship and SMEs to innovation in the Negev (south of Israel), where there is strong potential for the creation of a significant Clean Tech industry cluster, involving a critical mass of firms, human capital, research organisations, support infrastructure and associated formal and informal linkages.
The renewable energy conference in Eilat-Eilot provides a platform to discuss the findings and recommendations of the OECD report with the main policy makers and stakeholders in Israel, with the participation of international experts.
