Following adoption of the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas, this meeting addressed how best to implement the OECD-UN due diligence recommendations.
Jointly organised by the ICGLR, the OECD and the UN Group of Experts on the DRC, participants focused on:
- developing a common methodology to evaluate how the recommendations can be implemented throughout the supply chain
- assessing the consistency of existing industry tools with the UN-OECD framework and how to overcome possible challenges
- how to ensure the integration of the recommended due diligence processes and standards into on-going certification and traceability initiatives at national and regional level
