The Western Balkan Enterprise Development and Innovation Facility (EDIF) will be launched in 2012, the result of a close cooperation between the Western Balkan Beneficiaries, the European Commission, the European Investment Bank Group and the EBRD.
The EDIF will provide a set of complementary measures to improve access to finance for SMEs in the Western Balkans. The OECD Investment Compact and its partners are in the process of setting up a Policy Framework, designed to improve the regulatory environment for high growth and innovative SMEs. In addition to providing funds and guarantees, EDIF will provide technical assistance enabling relevant policy reforms in the Western Balkan economies.
The European Commission and the OECD Investment Compact for South East Europe will hold a policy assessment meeting on 5 July to discuss potential reforms to improve the business climate for high growth small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) in the Western Balkans (WB). The meeting will identify future reform priorities that will be supported by the EDIF.
The European Commission and the OECD Investment Compact for South East Europe will also hold a donor co-ordination meeting on 6 July to discuss current donor technical assistance initiatives targeting small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) in the Western Balkans. The aim of the meeting is to identify future reform priorities to be supported by the EDIF.
