Corporate Governance in the Middle East and North Africa

OECD Workshop on Corporate Governance of State-Owned Enterprises in the Middle East and North Africa - 24 May, Dubai, UAE

Established in 2005, the MENA-OECD Working Group on Corporate Governance aims to foster the sound corporate governance of listed and state-owned enterprises through good practice sharing and the evaluation of practice implementation. The Working Group brings together representatives from regional securities regulators, central banks, ministries, stock exchanges, corporate governance centres and other public and private sector key actors interested in further promoting corporate governance in the region. Through peer dialogue and information sharing, the Working Group leverages OECD expertise and co-operation with regional partners, while supporting implementation of the G20/OECD Principles of Corporate Governance. Efforts in these areas have four main objectives:

  • Driving private sector development,
  • Promoting corporate governance for capital market development,
  • Improving the governance of state-owned enterprises, and
  • Improving women’s participation in corporate leadership.
