The Secretary-General presented OECD’s recent analysis and recommendations on the world economy, on more balanced and efficient financial markets for growth, and on progress on the international tax system. He also spoke at the G7 High-Level Symposium “Future of the Global Economy”, organised by the Japanese G7 Presidency.
The Secretary-General spoke at the Anti-Corruption Summit, hosted by Prime Minister David Cameron. He also met with leaders attending the event and signed a memorandum of understanding with Italian National Anti-Corruption Authority.
The Secretary-General presented the 2016 OECD Economic Survey of Hungary, commemorated the 20th anniversary of Hungary's accession to the OECD and met with Hungarian President János Áder and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
Mr. Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD, was in London on 27 April 2016 to give a lecture at the London School of Economics, hosted by Lord Stern, entitled “To Brexit or not to Brexit: A Taxing Question”.
The Secretary-General presented the OECD Regulatory Review of Chile alongside President Michelle Bachelet and Minister of Economy Luis Felipe Céspedes. He also held bilateral meetings with several Chilean authorities, and presented the OECD Latin America and the Caribbean Programme to Ambassadors at the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).
The Secretary-General opened the Netherlands-OECD Global Symposium on “Financial Resilience throughout Life” alongside Her Majesty Queen Máxima and held bilateral meetings with several Dutch authorities.
The Secretary-General attended the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FM&CBG) Meeting and the International Monetary Fund/World Bank (IMF/WB) Spring Meetings. He also presented the OECD Scoreboard on Financing SMEs and Entrepreneurs and attended a series of meetings and other events.
The Secretary-General met with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe as well as several Ministers and high-level authorities of Japan. He spoke at a number of events and also presented the OECD Territorial Review of Japan and the publication Japan: Boosting Growth and Well-being in an Ageing Society.
The Secretary-General attended a meeting of the Heads of international organisations and presented the 2016 OECD Economic Survey of Germany.
The Secretary-General launched the OECD/Ford Foundation Inclusive Growth in Cities Campaign along with more than 20 mayors from around the world. He also held bilateral meetings with several mayors attending the event and met with UN ambassadors.
