OIE and OECD collaboration on future challenges to animal health and welfare

7 September 2016 – Ms Mari Kiviniemi, OECD Deputy Secretary-General, and Dr Monique Éloit, Director General of the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the OIE headquarters in Paris to enhance the existing collaboration between the two organisations.

This agreement provides a formal basis for enhanced co-operation on some of the key challenges faced by nations to ensure economic prosperity as well as social and environmental well-being of their populations. The co-operation between the two organisations will notably concern exchange of information and technical co-operation in particular on best practices, policies and economic analysis related to animal health and welfare, veterinary drugs and antimicrobial resistance, the impact of livestock on environment and other related areas of common interest.
