Mr. Gélie holds a Bachelors Degree in Law, a Masters Degree in Law, and a Bachelors Degree in Philosophy from the University of Bordeaux. He also holds a Masters in Law and History.

In 1982, he became the Laureate of the Foundation Journaliste Demain.

Mr. Gélie has been Foreign Editor at the Le Figaro since 2009. 

Since he started working at Le Figaro in 1985 as Reporter and Editor in the Media Section, Mr. Gélie held various positions: Senior Reporter for the International Section (1989 – 1995), Middle East Correspondent in Jerusalem (1995 to 2000), European Affairs Correspondent in Brussels (2000 to 2003), and Washington Bureau Chief (2003 to 2009).
