Broadening our channels: learn, share and network

Discovery Lab

In the Discovery Lab, what we share is greater than our differences: the desire to exchange ideas and experiences, to listen, question and debate.

Whether it’s at a Meet the Author talk or at a Talk Together discussion, the Discovery Lab offers you the chance to meet thinkers and change makers and to add your voice to the debate.

For the detailed schedule of the Discovery Lab’s exciting events, check out the full Forum Programme.

Meet the Author

Looking to take the discussion further? Bring the ideas home with you?

Forum speakers presented their latest books in the Discovery Lab – an opportunity for you to ask the author questions, share your views, and even purchase a book.

Come and Meet the Author

Connecting at the Forum

As a complement to the Forum amphitheatres, these Forum innovations and special features are ways to connect in small groups or dedicated spaces, with a focus on innovation, interactivity and collaboration.

Civic Tech Hub @ Better Life Index

The OECD Better Life Index is an online tool where citizens can tell the OECD what matters for their well-being, based on 11 different dimensions. It is an effort of the organisation to make our work more accessible and include citizens in the public policy-making space.

At the Civic Tech Hub, we’re showcasing some of the ways that civic tech - information technology that enables public participation in the policy-making process - is gaining momentum and helping give voice to a diverse ecosystem of citizen activists. Speakers will give short pitches and Q&A sessions, touching on the potential and challenges of this movement. They will present how they are increasing transparency, building communities through open data and open source, taking part in the development of new laws and regulations, and ultimately, how civically-minded leaders are striving for sustained engagement and more responsive governments.

Idea Factory

In the OECD_IdeaFactory, there are no panels, podiums or formal presentations.

Bringing together a range of experiences, backgrounds and perspectives from across the policy shaping community in a highly interactive, engaging and very popular format, the IdeaFactory explores relevant social phenomena, combines experiences and perspectives and stimulates discussion about the potential of new ideas.

An experienced facilitation team coordinates the work of about 16 Discussion Leaders and the collaborative process that engages the select group of 90+ participants over a three-hour period.

15/15 Talks

Dive into the world of experts to see what their perspective is on bridging the divides in our societies today. How can their unique experiences spark a collective mindshift towards better lives for all?

These sessions will feature a dynamic talk for up to 15 minutes followed by 15 minutes for discussion, i.e. 15 by 15. This new Forum innovation aims to capture the essence of an idea or experience and stimulate further discovery.

Discussion Lounge
