Public consultation on a draft Recommendation on Disaster Risk Financing Strategies

The publication consultation closed on 15 April 2016

The OECD is developing a Recommendation of the Council on Disaster Risk Financing Strategies and the draft text was made available for public comment from 15 January 2016 until 15 April 2016.

This Recommendation will replace the 2010 Recommendation on Good Practices for Mitigating and Financing Catastrophic Risks and position this legal instrument as the main international guidance on the development of strategies for the financial management of disaster risks.

This revision will also improve consistency with other OECD legal instruments and policy guidance, including the Recommendation on the Governance of Critical Risks and the G20/OECD Methodological Framework for Disaster Risk Assessment and Risk Financing, and will respond to some of the lessons learned from the OECD’s global survey of practices and challenges in disaster risk financing

This draft is still a work in progress and the content may be subject to modifications, in particular to include the relevant comments received through the public consultation.
