The purpose of this report is to identify SMM policy instruments that are currently in use across OECD countries. Lessons learned from existing policy implementation have been used to formulate conclusions and recommendations for the structure of future SMM policy instruments.
The deployment of greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation technologies depends on international trade in services such as business, telecommunications and construction and related engineering, typically through cross-border Internet trade and temporary movement of personnel.
Governments must look to the green economy to find new sources of growth and jobs. They should put in place policies that tap into the innovation, investment and entrepreneurship driving the shift towards a greener economy.
Mr. Gurría declared that the Green Growth strategy provides an actionable framework for addressing the twin challenges of expanding economic opportunities, while reducing environmental pressures that could seriously undermine our ability to seize those opportunities.
This report, in response to a request made by G8 Environment Ministers at their meeting in Kobe in 2008, presents an evaluation of progress on resource productivity.
The objective of this case study on critical metals is to analyse the environmental impacts of critical metals throughout their lifecycle and to explore policy opportunities and barriers for SMM, as a way of demonstrating the utility of the SMM concept for policy-making.
