Climate is water. A majority of adaptation actions to climate change are water related. The international community is engaged in a wide debate on defining adaptation. Water resilient climate actions can serve as an interesting basis to provide some feedback and experiences on how to develop adaptation actions.

This sessionl confronted the vision of international organisations, donors, and operators on how they define water resilient climate actions, revealing what are the trends, difficulties and improvements that can be made to reinforce capacities at all levels to develop such actions.

Key questions

  • What is adaptation for water management?
  • What the main aspects to be taken into account to define water related adaptation actions?
  • What type of actions can be developed?
  • How to reinforce the capacity building of countries and actors on this issue?
  • What are the limits and the risks of maladaptation?
  • How to link up the experiences on the ground with international debates and programs which look at how to develop adaptation actions?
