This report is one of the products of the OECD programme on environmental indicators. These indicators give a broad overview of environmental issues in OECD countries and are updated every year.
Recommends, with regard to the analysis of the material flows and their environmental impacts, that Member countries, promote resource productivity by strengthening their capacity for analysing material flows and the associated environmental impacts.

At the worldwide launch of this report in Oslo, hosted by Norway's Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg, OECD Secretary-General reminded that solutions to the key environmental challenges are available, achievable and affordable, especially when compared to the expected economic growth and the costs and consequences of inaction.
