29 September 2015 - Two reports prepared by the OECD/UNEP Global PFC Group with the aim of raising awareness of perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs) in governments, the private sector and civil society. This work supports efforts in the framework of the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM) to improve information sharing at a global level on these chemistries. The OECD/UNEP Global PFC Group was established to respond to the International Conference on Chemicals Management (ICCM 2) 2009 Resolution II/5 and to ICCM3 Resolution III/3 regarding PFCs under the framework of the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM). These reports aim to inform discussions on progress with respect to the ICCM Resolutions.
This analysis provides an overview of current activities with regard to the development of risk reduction approaches for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances in a number of jurisdictions.
This report works towards establishing a global emission inventory for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) and uses perfluoroalkyl carboxylic acids (PFCAs) as a reference to present an overall picture of global and regional emissions of PFASs and other related fluorinated substances.
