21/12/2011 - Unit labour costs (ULCs) in the OECD area fell 0.3% in the third quarter of 2011, according to early estimates.
ULCs fell in most major economies. In Canada and Germany, they fell by 0.4% and in the United States by 0.3%, mainly driven by improved labour productivity. ULCs fell by 1.7% in Japan, partly due to a technical rebound in GDP growth after the earthquake disaster.
