The OECD Employment Outlook indicates that the French unemployment rate is likely to increase further and could even approach 11% by the end of 2010 if the recovery fails to gain momentum.
The OECD Labour and Employment Ministerial Meeting: Tackling the Jobs Crisis will be held at OECD in Paris on 28-29 September 2009. It will be preceded by a Policy Forum the morning of 28 September.
The development of tailored recommendations to promote and enhance the contribution of the social economy in fostering social inclusion is the aim of the project and guidance is being provided to national, regional and local actors on how to improve social inclusion capacity effectively.
France should do more to ease the transition of unskilled young people into employment. The government should give priority to helping young people the furthest removed from the job market and to strengthening the social protection of the most disadvantaged, according to a new report by the OECD.
OECD has launched a series of reports in 16 countries including France. Each report contains a survey of the main barriers to employment for young people, an assessment of the adequacy and effectiveness of existing measures to improve the transition from school to work.
