The OECD Survey on Health System Characteristics is intended to fill gaps in existing information on the institutional features of health systems, to provide input for analyses of health system performance. The survey was conducted in 2008 and 2012 and covered three main domains: health financing, health care delivery and governance and resource allocation. In 2016, a third survey will be carried out to mainly track changes since 2012. It will focus on a “core” set of questions and use prefilled tables to reduce the data collection burden on countries.
