This chapter provides an overview of the progress achieved by OECD countries over the past year in taking measures consistent with the policy priorities identified in the 2007 edition.
Going for Growth 2008 takes stock of recent progress in implementing policy reforms to improve labour productivity and utilisation that were identified as priorities in the 2007 edition.

This Country Note on Japan forms part of the OECD Thematic Review of Tertiary Education. This is a collaborative project to assist countries in the design and implementation of tertiary education policies which contribute to the realisation of their social and economic objectives.
The OECD is carrying out an evaluation of what students in higher education know and can do upon graduation: the AHELO project (Assessment of Higher Education Learning Outcomes).

Brazil’s São Paulo Metropolitan Region is conducting a performance evaluation pilot study at three schools serving disadvantaged populations. The objective is first to test methods which can facilitate Post Occupancy Evaluations and then to carry out the evaluations.
