As a follow-up to recommendations from the two reviews on China which had an important impact on legislation and policy development in the sector, the OECD is aiming to strengthen the research on tertiary education finance and quality.
The goal of this activity is a long-term applied research collaboration between Chinese and Swiss universities and research institutions on policy issues of mutual interest in the domain of education development and governance.
In order to achieve this goal, it is necessary to identify mechanisms and means for a sustainable co-operation and involvement of interested researchers and institutions in both countries. The project will help to develop a research network to facilitate the continuing dialogue between parties in China and Switzerland. Collaborative research could be facilitated through this initial contact and team building effort.
The activity is organised with the support of CSEND, in close co-operation with the Swiss authorities and the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. It is foreseen that partners from other member economies will join the project at a later date.
The following elements will be implemented in 2006 and 2007:
