Åsa Olsson has been the Programme Manager for the Programme on Innovation, Higher Education and Research for Development (IHERD) at the OECD since May 2011.
IHERD aims to increase the knowledge and awareness of policy and management instruments in higher education, research and innovation, and shares this knowledge with developing countries so that they are better able to plan, produce and use research and innovation for sustainable economic growth.
Prior to her OECD position, Åsa Olsson was a Research Advisor for the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, Sida. Her portfolio included research communication and research and innovation policy. From 2005 to 2009 she served at UNESCO co-ordinating the UNESCO Forum on Higher Education, Research and Knowledge. Ms. Olsson has also served various non-governmental organisations in development contexts. She holds a Master's Degree in Political Administration from Uppsala University, Sweden.
