Michael I. Posner is Professor Emeritus, University of Oregon, and Adjunct Professor at Weill Medical College of Cornell University and Sackler Institute. He has helped developed studies to trace the activation of anatomical areas involved in higher-brain function in real time. He is particularly interested in the role of attention in high-level human tasks such as visual search, reading, and number processing, and is examining the development of attentional networks in infants and young children and how they influence learning, emotion, and the acquisition of language.
