Bruce D. McCandliss, PhD. is Assistant Professor of Psychology in Psychiatry at the Sackler Institute for Developmental Psychobiology, Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
Through the use of brain imaging techniques and electrical recordings of brain activity, his research explores how different brain areas change during the acquisition of the foundational skills in reading words and numbers of children in their early school years, and how different aspects of the learning process can influence these changes. Through his research he hopes to shed light on how these skills normally develop and provide insight into how learning difficulties might be alleviated through intervention programs.
